Description: This plant is an erect annual, up to 60cm in height, with
wispy 2-3 pinnate, hairy leaves and tubular yellow flowers, surrounded by a
single row of white ligulate florets which are often bent backwards.
Aromatic Scent: Chamomile Egyptian has a strong, sweetish, warm,
herbaceous odor.
Common Uses: German Chamomile has natural properties that make it a
relaxing and rejuvenating agent. Its trace amounts of lithium calm nerves and
reduce stress, lower hysteria and over-sensitivity and aids with insomnia.
Chamomile (Egypt) is also reputed to have excellent anti-inflammatory and antibiotic
properties that can assist with cuts, wounds and insect bites.
History: In ancient Egyptian medicine, chamomile was a symbol of
the omnipotence of Ra through his power to restore wholeness to the Self. The
Egyptians also used Chamomile Oil during daylight hours to cure fevers, and by
moonlight for its calming abilities.
